BNC Input Monitor Guide

What BNC input means for surveillance displays.

A BNC input is a round locking connector used by cameras and recorders in many existing surveillance installations. A monitor with a BNC input can take a camera feed directly over coaxial cable, without an adapter or converter, which keeps the signal chain simple and avoids an extra point of failure.

The evidenced model on this site with BNC input is the CCTV monitor ZC220, a 21.5 inch display with 1920 by 1080 resolution and D-SUB, DVI, VGA, BNC and HDMI interfaces. The BNC figure belongs to that model. A buyer replacing a monitor in an existing BNC installation should check the number of BNC feeds and whether the recorder also needs an HDMI or VGA output, because the ZC220 covers both cases in one display.

New installations that use network cameras do not need BNC input at all, because the video arrives over the network and is viewed on a computer or a network video recorder output. BNC matters most when keeping existing coaxial cameras. State the camera type and the recorder output in an enquiry so the company can confirm a matching display.

Order quantity and lead time are confirmed per model in enquiry, and prices are not published on this site.
